LoL Players Panic as Riot fixes EU Server Lag

In an unexpected move, Riot has addressed the long-standing complaints of its European player base and invested in improving the infrastructure of its western European servers. The community has responded with a combination of shock and fear.

While players have traditionally complained about European server issues, the recent fix has been met with further criticism, as players have found themselves in the uncomfortable position of still losing games in an environment in which there is no lag to blame for their respective shortcomings.

“Now that there’s no way for my teammates to blame the lag,” user 2legit2feed said, “I’ve finally started to see how truly terrible everyone else but me is.”

A Diamond player commented, “The more I played without lag, the more I realized that I’m just not very good at this game at all.” Another player said, “I’m a total scrub. All this time, you’d think I’d have noticed. I’m going to have to call my friends and just, I don’t know, apologize I guess.”

Critics say that forcing EU players into a period of excuse-less introspection is causing vast psychological problems for players used to blaming others. A campaign has already sprung up on the Riot forums to reverse the changes, with many claiming that compensating for the added latency was “part of the skill” and by fixing its server issues, Riot has effectively nerfed its most dedicated players.

“I was looking forward to complaining about the laggy EU servers tonight,” said one Reddit user. “Now what am I supposed to do? Fuck Riot.”
