MLG to Host First Ever Disband Prevention Camp

Major League Gaming has announced the launch of its first annual Disband Prevention Summer Camp in an effort to aid professional Dota 2 teams at high risk of imminent disbandment.

“Five of the eight teams at MLG X-Games Austin participated in TI5 qualifiers but failed to qualify,” said MLG Executive Vice President and hapless tournament scheduling victim Adam Apicella. “We are seeking $35 million in investor funding for the camp.”

Analysts say that post-International qualifier depression could affect up to 90% of professional Dota 2 teams. Fans first became worried when Alliance debuted a special courier named “Disbandit” which, when killed, fragments into five pieces. When Summer’s Rift decided to add European player Niclas “Niqua” Westergard to their roster, MLG decided something had to be done.

“This roster move by SR, which does not disqualify them from any tournament nor does it create any salty NA Doto drama, is the most alarming of all,” said Travis “Maut” Bueno, friend of Dota 2 caster Brian “Basskip” Asskip and CS:GO personality Greg “Whatiship” Laird.

MLG has planned a series of team-building exercises specifically designed to strengthen bonds between at-risk Dota 2 players:

• Team Trust-Building: Players will build a large player booth named “Trust” on a realistic ESPORTS arena, bonus points for effective soundproofing
• Team Positivity: Players will use social media to jointly tease a 16+ month future MLG-related announcement, bonus points for announcements of announcements
• Team Willpower: Players will collectively deny themselves a randomly selected vice or temptation, in this case streaming on Twitch.tv

The exercise is already proving effective, as none of MLG X-Games Austin teams have disbanded in the past 72 hours and longtime team brand Fnatic immediately picked up one of the attending teams, Malaysia.

Next year, in addition to Disband Camp, MLG plans on running a special “Disbrand Camp” aimed at organizations who need to gracefully extricate themselves from Dota 2 after their team falls apart.
