Riot Hopeful Hexakill Game Mode Finally Solves 2v1

Game designers and balance engineers at Riot Games expressed hope that League of Legend’s new Hexakill mode would finally solve the troublesome problem of 2v1 lanes. While Riot has emphasized that it does not enforce a meta, it has made major attempts to eliminate 2v1 lanes, as lane swaps do not follow their meta.

“We had a company-wide contest to find the most elegant solution for 2v1,” said Lead Designer Ryan “Morello” Scott. “After some deliberation, I decided that I was the winner.”

Sources say Morello’s idea was inspired by a recent ranked game he played – which involved a duo Top and duo Bot, but no Jungler – and a viral video meme of a child actor for Old El Paso at-home tacos who says “why not both?”

If Hexakill proves successful at solving lane swaps, Riot may develop it further as a solution to the “AFK” problem by giving each team a designated slot to store their troll. Other proposed uses include:

  • Letting coaches yell at their players in game
  • Allowing duo lane for “mid and feed”
  • Giving the jungler a friend
  • Increasing the number of available wards by 20%, from zero to zero

Early reports indicate that the community has responded well to Hexakill, with many Reddit comments of “Riot, thanks!” Other users praised Hexakill’s transient lifespan, citing the fact that they hate having permanent access to fun game modes.

Additionally, the game mode has had a major effect on professional gaming. Preliminary scouting reveals that Korean teams have begun experimenting with trilaning, while Gambit have benched their main roster to field team “Edward in Pajamas.”

While Hexakill may solve the issue of 2v1 laning once and for all, Morello revealed that Riot has backup plans. “In the future, we might consider adding quests the player must complete before they can venture into other lanes. We would also implement major changes to the nexus, causing it to gradually lose health if its team has unconventional picks.”

In addition to playing the new game mode, summoners are invited to purchase limited edition Hexakill skins.
